Unit 2 Projects

This is my pinch pot that I cut in half. This obviously wasn't a very intensive project, but I'm satisfied with how it came out. I was able to get the sides relatively even. If I were to try this again, I think I would attempt to get a taller and thinner shape.

This is my pinch pot with a lid. Overall I am not super happy with the results of this one. I think I could've made the shape more symmetrical and smoothed the sides more, and that would have helped. I also think I could have done something more interesting with the glaze than a flat brown. Despite this though, it is still a functional little jar.

This is my two pinch pots that I put together. Overall I am very happy with this project. I think I was able to get the shape very nice and I like the visual texture I was able to give it with the glaze. The only thing I would do differently in the future is try and make the sides a tad bit thinner.

This is my small animal structure, with which I chose to make a snake. This project was my first experience in rolling out coils, and I learned it's a lot harder than it seems! It was really difficult for me to keep the clay from drying out and cracking. In the end though, I think the snake came out really cute, and I like the confetti design I did with the glaze.

Historical Inspiration:

This is my historical piece, inspired by pieces of ancient Minoan pottery. I am really happy with how this piece came out, especially the handles and the octopus design. I am a little unsatisfied with how uneven the shape is - I feel like I could've taken more time on that. Overall though, I am quite happy with this piece.

This is my relief tile project. I really enjoy the design I did on this piece and the color scheme that I chose. Unfortunately, I learned with this piece that I need to really coat the piece even if I'm just using underglaze. The color looked totally opaque until I put the clear glaze on, and then it turned patchy. Even with the uneven color, I still think the piece is cute.
